InnoSwitch3-PD dramatically simplifies the development and manufacturing of USB-PD power supplies by integrating primary switch and controller, isolated feedback, secondary control and USB-PD controller into a single package.

The architecture incorporates a novel inductive coupling feedback scheme, Fluxlink, to provide a safe, reliable, and low-cost means to communicate accurate direct sensing of the output voltage and current. The primary controller on InnoSwitch3-PD is a quasi-resonant (QR) flyback controller that has the ability to operate in continuous conduction mode (CCM), using both variable frequency and variable current control schemes. The InnoSwitch3-PD secondary controller consists of a transmitter circuit that is magnetically coupled to the primary receiver, an I2C interface to control power supply parameters and telemetry functions, a 4.4 V regulator, SR FET driver, QR mode circuit, oscillator and timing functions, and a host of integrated protection features.
